We are excited to announce a very unique misogi* retreat at Vandrar Hem Labor Day Weekend, August 30-Sept 2nd. Chop Wood, Carry Water, hosted by Evan Beyer + Jesse Danger, will challenge your physical capacities while immersing you in nature.
Participants will learn how to create their own wooden axe handle from start to finish In a collaborative and supportive environment.
Expect cold plunges + sauna, group meals, fire tending, camaraderie, and self-reflection. Everyone will end the weekend with their own axe, lessons in axe-throwing, and a deep satisfaction that can only come from embracing challenge and facing the seemingly impossible.
Achieve what you weren't expecting.
*Misogi is an ancient Japanese purification ritual and an opportunity to play with the impossible. Traditionally the misogi involves activities like standing under waterfalls or immersing oneself in cold rivers to cleanse the mind, body, and spirit. Misogi can also manifest through meditative and artisanal pursuits - such as crafting an axe handle from raw wood. This practice not only hones individual skills but also fosters deeper connections within a group through shared physical challenges and collective effort.

3/25 - 3/26 Queen City Fest
Save the dates for Queen City Fest!
Queen City Fest is an event that seeks to build connections and foster a sense of camaraderie among the growing women's community in parkour through a series of workshops and group training sessions led by some of the leaders in this sport. “Queen City” is the name of a documentary featuring exclusively female athletes. It was filmed last summer in Colorado and it is the first-ever parkour film of its kind.
We want women to feel empowered in their movement, bodies, and community, particularly in this male-dominated sport.
Join us for our third annual retreat founded on parkour principles:
Être Et Durer, Être Fort, and Être Utile
Discuss and explore what it meant to be strong - for yourself, of mind, of body, of spirit, and for others - to be a part of a strong community
Treat Yo’ Self
Over the course of 2 nights and 3 days we will share meals, move, recharge and play together while challenging what we are mentally and physically capable of.
Coaches Jesse Danger and Roberto Segueiro from Chainstore Gym in London will lead us through daily movement sessions, both in our upstate home and through the wild on a day-long hike to Kaaterskill Falls.
Through daily mindful explorations of movement and proactive conversations, we will explore what it means to overcome obstacles and grow as a community.
